Mac OS8 Internet Setup Assistant/Open Transport (MacPPP)

1) About Apple Internet Setup Assistant

Apple Internet Dialer is a new feature of Mac OS8, which sets up Open Transport 1.2 (MacPPP and TCP/IP).

2) Settings you will be prompted for:

Name of Configuration/ISP: Huntleigh
How will you be connecting:
Modem
Which modem are you using: Choose the appropriate Modem from the list
Modem port: Modem port
Tone or pulse: Tone
Phone number for configuration: El Paso: 865-9998
Las Cruces: 635-4013
Login name: your_login
Pasword:
your_password
Primary DNS Server: 209.136.26.5
Secondary DNS Server: 209.136.26.12
Domain name: huntel.com
E-mail address: your_login@huntel.com
E-mail password: your_password
E-mail account: your_login
SMTP server: mail.huntel.com
News group host: news.htg.net


Where your_login is the first part of your e-mail address (i.e., if your e-mail address is ‘johndoe@huntel.com’, your Login is ‘johndoe’), and your_password is your actual password. Please note your Login should always be in lower case, unless otherwise specified.

3) When you're done walking through the Internet Setup Assistant:

To connect to the Internet you can open the MacPPP control Panel and click Connect. If you want to bring up MacPPP when you start another Internet program, such as Netscape or Internet Explorer, open MacPPP click Options choose the Connec tion Tab and ensure that the Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications options is checked.

To Disconnect from the Internet once online bring up the MacPPP control panel and click the Disconnect button.

5) TCP/IP Settings For Huntleigh

The following information contains the correct TCP/IP settings for use with your Huntleigh Account. The TCP/IP control panel comes with later versions of Macintosh system software (7.5.3 and above). If the Internet Setup Assistant is followed as above then TCP/IP should be setup correctly, although it is a good idea to check these settings.

TCP/IP Settings

Go to the TCP/IP Control Panel to setup TCP/IP for Huntleigh.
